AZFT Cyberspace Security Lab officially launched on May 24th

On May 24th, the “AZFT Cyberspace Security Laboratory” established by Alibaba Group and Zhejiang University was officially unveiled. Zhejiang University President / joint Director of AZFT Academic Committee Wu Zhaohui and Chief Risk Officer of Alibaba Group Zheng Junfang attended the meeting.

According to Bu Jiajun, Deputy Director of the College of Software Engineering at Zhejiang University and Associate Director of the Alibaba-Zhejiang University Frontier Technology Joint Research Center, this is a brand-new upgrade following the joint establishment of the Internet of Things Security Lab by Alibaba and Zhejiang University last year.

It is reported that AZFT Cyberspace Security laboratory is affiliated with the Alibaba-Zhejiang University Joint Research Institute of Frontier Technologies (AZFT). Its research area includes system security, internet of things (IoT) security, cloud security, data protection and artificial intelligence security.

At present, network security is in jeopardy yet security technology is severely lacking. It has become a problem that cannot be ignored for the general public and that is why we established the cyberspace security laboratory”, said the Director of Cyberspace Security Research Center at Zhejiang University and Director of the AZFT Cyberspace Security Laboratory, Prof. Ren Kui. The laboratory has a very clear five-year plan that endeavors to promote the development and cooperation of production and research in this field.

The laboratory also attracted a large number of high-level talents, including professors, associate professors, and scholars from the College of Information Engineering, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering of Zhejiang University, as well as multiple algorithm and security experts from the Turing Lab of Alibaba and the Gemini Laboratory.

Alibaba has a very rich Internet application scenario and is therefore the best platform for security research and experimentation. This joint security laboratory established with Zhejiang University can truly help us combine cutting-edge security research with industrial development.” Said Dr. Du Yuejin.
