The College of Computer Science and Technology (CCST) at Zhejiang University (ZJU) is recognized as a global leader in computer science education and research. Since its founding in 1978, the college has been at the forefront of technological innovation—establishing China’s first artificial intelligence laboratory in 1982 and developing state-level laboratories in cutting-edge fields such as CAD and Computer Graphics, Brain-Machine Intelligence, and Blockchain and Data Security. According to the 2024 U.S. News global rankings, ZJU ranks among the top 6 worldwide in Computer Science. The CSRankings (2015–2025) further place the college first globally in Computer Graphics and Visualization, and among the top five in Artificial Intelligence and top six in Computer Security. With a student body of approximately 4,200 and a distinguished faculty that includes academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the college offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs. Through strong international partnerships and a dynamic academic environment, the college welcomes students from around the world to engage in impactful, future-focused education and research.

Zhejiang University developed the first Vacuum tube computer ZD-I in 1965.
ZJU CCST takes pride in its unique combination of computer science and art & design. It is comprised of 5 departments, including Department of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science and Technology, Information Security, Software Engineering and Industrial Design. To carry out innovative and multi-disciplinary research, CCST owns 5 research institutes, including 3 national key labs, and 4 centers.
