On June 11, 2025, a delegation from the School of Computing at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) visited the College of Computer Science and Technology at Zhejiang University (ZJU). The two sides held in-depth discussions on joint graduate programs, collaborative research, and academic exchanges. The delegation was led by Professor Siti Zaiton bt. Hashim, UTM’s Deputy Dean for Research, Innovation, and Development, and included heads from the Intelligent Informatics Research Group (IIRG) and the Information Assurance and Security Research Group (IASRG). Vice Dean Yang Yi, Division Headfor International Affairs Qiao Liqing, and International Coordinator Ye Yihan attended the meeting on behalf of ZJU.
The meeting took place in Room 108, East Wing, Cao Guangbiao Building, Yuquan Campus, and was moderated by Qiao Liqing. Vice Dean Yang Yi highlighted ZJU’s strengths in areas such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity and expressed the college’s interest in establishing long-term cooperation with UTM through dual-degree programs and student exchanges.
Professor Siti Zaiton bt. Hashim provided an overview of UTM’s international collaboration initiatives, including government-funded scholarships for international students and a summer school program focused on data science. She expressed hopes for launching joint student exchange and academic cooperation projects with ZJU.
During the discussion session, both parties explored potential areas of collaboration, including dual-degree programs, undergraduate exchanges, MoU signing, joint research initiatives, and academic resource sharing. UTM is one of Malaysia’s top engineering and technology universities, ranked 152nd globally in computer science in the latest QS rankings. This visit marks a concrete step in implementing the Belt and Road educational cooperation initiative and lays a solid foundation for joint talent development in digital technology between China and Malaysia.
