This project is co-developed by faculty from NUS School of Computing and ZJU CCST, and sponsored by the Ministry of Education.
Epic (Elastic, Power-aware, data-Intensive Cloud platform)is an efficient multi-tenancy cloud system for supporting high throughout low latency transactions and high performance reliable query processing, with online analytics capability. Its performance has exceeded that of traditional big data system Hadoop by 2-10 times and Google’s Pregel2 by 2 times. The related research paper has won Best Paper Award in top conference in database VLDB2014, and the project has received funding from China’s National Development Plan for key fundamental research (973 Plan).
Cooperation with Caltech and Michigan State University
Geometric Optimization and Simulation of Complex Physical Objects,
NSFC Major International Cooperation Program
Co-developed by: Bao Hujun, Huang Jin(ZJU), Mathieu Desbrun(Caltech), and Yiying Tong(Michigan State University) and other faculty members.
This research aims at investigating the geometric optimized representation of complex objects, and simulation methods for physical process that are highly efficient and controllable. It is carried out with the joint effort of faculty from ZJU, Caltech, and Michigan State University, and received NSFC (National Natural Science Foundation of China) funding for major international cooperation project.
Cooperation with Columbia University
Hydrographics and 3D Printing Technology
Directed by Prof. Zhou Kun, State Key Lab of CAD&CG
With the collaboration from the State Key Lab of CAD&CG and Columbia University, the research team innovatively proposed hydrographics technology, which is the first solution to the global challenge of accurate coloring of 3D objects. Through dimension reduction and physical modeling, this technology can greatly increase the coloring accuracy while maintaining high efficiency. It serves as a key technology for 3D printing in the Industrial 4.0 era. Relevant paper is published in ACM SIGGRAPH, a top conference in computer graphics. This technology has also received great media coverage in the US, and draws much attention for its industry application potential.
China-US Million Book Digital Library Project (CADAL), 2001
Led by Prof. Pan Yunhe and Raj Reddy, Turing Award Laureate
Funded by both China and US government, the objective of this project is to digitalize 1 million books to preserve and disseminate knowledge. 30+ universities and institutions participated in this project, such as CMU、UIUC、UBC、National Library of Germany、University of Cambridge, Oxford University, National Research Center of France, and KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
