College of Computer Science and Technology Hosts Inaugural Turing Forum

By

To broaden the academic horizons of both faculty and students and foster academic exchange and progress, the first session of the Turing Forum, organized by the College of Computer Science and Technology at Zhejiang University, was held on the morning of June 16 in the main library's first-floor lecture hall at Zijingang Campus. The event featured Turing Award laureate and Cornell University professor John Hopcroft, who delivered an academic presentation and engaged with attendees, sharing insights on cutting-edge research. This Turing Forum is also part of the undergraduate general education course, "Seeking Truth Lecture Hall."

In the afternoon, Professor Hopcroft further participated in an event titled "Meeting and Communicating with Young Faculty and Students of the College."

Wu Fei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Computer Science and Technology and the College of Software at Zhejiang University, opened the event with a welcome speech, expressing sincere gratitude to Professor Hopcroft for his presence. Wu noted that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party emphasized that science and technology are the primary productive forces, talent is the most important resource, and innovation is the key driving force. As part of this vision, the College has launched the "Turing Forum" series, designed to enable teachers and students to engage with renowned scholars, explore the frontiers of the discipline, and drive breakthroughs in scientific and technological innovation.
