As evaluated by the Chinese Ministry of Education, CCST possesses two A+ disciplines, namely Computer Science and Technology and Software Engineering, and one A- discipline in Design Science. Through the collaboration of outstanding and inspiring faculty at CCST, we offer a series of undergraduate and graduate programs that are ability-oriented and rigorous in nature. In those programs, students can not only learn by doing through working on series of research projects under the guidance of their academic advisors, but are also granted flexibility in taking cross-department courses so as to pursue multi-disciplinary innovation. “Computer + X” is an integrated part of our academic philosophy.

CCST is devoted to nurture all-around, innovative talents in computer science with global vision. It offers 5 undergraduate programs, and establishes the Turing Honors Class in collaboration with ZJU Chu Kochen Honors College. CCST’s Undergraduate Education Steering Committee has defined indispensable components of the undergraduate program, which cover teaching of advanced computer science theories and technologies, application module that emphasize student-led application development, and individualized module, which grant students maximum amount of freedom to pursue multidisciplinary applications.

CCST student team won the world championship at the 35th ACM-ICPC Programming Contest. Undergraduate student Luyi Mo became the first female ICPC world champion in the ACM history.
CCST offers 4 first-level discipline PhD programs, including Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Design Science, Cyberspace Security, and possesses one interdisciplinary discipline in Artificial Intelligence. Under the Computer Science and Technology discipline, there are four sub-major areas, namely Computer Application Technology (National key discipline), Computer Software and Theories (National key cultivating discipline), Computer System Architecture and Digital Art and Design (provincial key disciplines). As evaluated by the latest ESI (Essential Science Indicator) Statistics published by Clarivate Analytics, the Computer Science discipline of CCST is ranked Top 1‰ globally, positioning at top 22th worldwide.

Ph.D. Student Sida Peng presented his research paper at CVPR2019.
Our students have made outstanding achievements in research innovations and industry endeavor. Among the top there are three Academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering (Yunhe Pan, Zuoning Chen, Chun Chen), academician of Chinese Academy of Science Zhaohui Wu, and distinguished researchers like Prof. Hujun Bao, Prof. Yueting Zhuang, and Prof. Kun Zhou. The graduates of the College have made substantial technology breakthroughs in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Computer Graphics, Software Systems, and Computer Architecture. The distinction of our graduate students is evident from a list of prestigious awards which recognize their outstanding contributions, including ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award, AAAI Outstanding Paper Award, and Microsoft Scholar Award.
Our college is a leading incubator for top talent, seamlessly integrating education and research. Our alumni are driving forces in the digital economy, with the combined market value of their founded companies exceeding RMB 1.5 trillion. Over 200 alumni are founders, co-founders, or controlling shareholders, collectively supplying more than 50% of the CEOs and CTOs to tech companies.Graduates from national key disciplines are exceptionally impactful: they have founded over 35% of Hangzhou's unicorn companies, and nearly 60% of the city's digital economy CTOs are alumni. In total, they have launched 18 listed companies and 8 unicorns, including notable founders like Huang Zheng (Pinduoduo). The College's alumni community also includes more than 20 members who hold prestigious academic and research positions globally. Among them are distinguished academicians such as Chen Zuoning of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Hu Shimin of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a Foreign Fellow of the Engineering Academy of Japan. The group is further distinguished by renowned fellows, including Yu Yizhou, an ACM/IEEE Fellow, and Chen Yan, an IEEE Fellow.

The College of Computer Science and Technology educates future leaders in computer science with interdisciplinary innovation capabilities to address global challenges in the AI2.0 world.
